We have been bored.
We have been scared.
We have been frustrated.
We have been angry.
The tedium of being at home during the last 3 months has been, at times, unbearable. But now I am embarrassed that I ever complained about not being able to go and do and see and buy and travel and blah blah blah.
How many times has someone said to you “Get off social media/take a news break/find some peace in these challenging times?” Maybe that was true about the constant COVID coverage, but not anymore.
I am exhausted. I know most of you are too. The constant barrage of bad news, of lies, of dangerous leadership – it’s beating us up. For me, and many people in my life, there is the absolute GIFT of not being distracted by needing to figure out how we will survive – how we will pay for things or keep ourselves safe.
Instead of being bored, I’ve decided to fight. I’ve decided to NOT ignore the news. I’ve decided to NOT be distracted. I’m using my social media- and, for now, my blog – to share information, to share my opinions (that’s what social media is best for), and to PAY ATTENTION to what is happening right this minute. There is, at least for me, nothing else that I need to do at this point.
If you have the luxury of being bored, there is a lot you can do to make change happen. You know how to find a way to help.
If you have the luxury of extra money to spend and nothing to spend it on right now, DONATE.
And above all else, make sure you are registered to vote. It’s the MOST IMPORTANT thing all of us can do to fix our beloved country.
